Thank you to our Befriending Volunteers

14 Apr 2016

Volunteers, service users, staff and friends of Praxis Care gathered together recently for the annual Praxis Care “Volunteer Thank You” event in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown.

This was an opportunity to share stores, say thank you and recognise the invaluable support of the volunteers.

Praxis Care involves over 150 volunteers in its work across Northern Ireland; many of these volunteers are involved in our Befriending Service where they are matched with someone who feels lonely or isolated as a result of the mental ill health or learning disability.

Since October 2013, nearly 100 new befriending matches have been made as part of the “Together for You” project.  Watch the short video about the successful befriending match of Anne and Marian or read about Maria and Catriona.

The event was also a thank you to Catherine Little, the Volunteer Co-Ordinator for Praxis Care and Together For You, for all her hard work in facilitating some fantastic befriending matches in the two short years of the project, many of which no doubt will continue beyond the life of the Together For You funding.
