Befriending Volunteers and their Praxis Care friends visit Titanic Belfast

01 Apr 2015

On a blustery March day Volunteer Befrienders and Befriendees from Praxis Care visited Titanic Belfast.

Praxis Care Befriending is currently funded by the Big Lottery Fund as part of the Together For You Project.  Our Befriending project aims to support individuals who feel lonely or isolated as a result of their mental ill health.

Providing social events like our visit to Titanic Belfast means an opportunity to meet other Befriending volunteers and service users from other schemes as well as visiting new places.

Volunteers and service users from the Derry, Magherafelt and Belfast Schemes came together for lunch at the Dock Cafe and then on for our tour of Titanic Belfast.

Speaking about their visit one Service User said “I really loved the opportunity to come to Titanic Belfast, I haven’t been before.  It was good to meet up with others and find out more about Belfast and the famous ship

Praxis Care Befriending relies on volunteers to make a difference to the Service Users referred in to the service.  Could you spare an hour a week to get involved, to go for a coffee, out for a walk and most importantly provide a listening ear to someone who feels lonely or isolated as a result of their mental ill health?
