Befriending Celebrations at Belfast City Hall

23 Dec 2015

Praxis Care Befriending (Belfast) met to celebrate Christmas with a tour of Belfast City Hall followed by Dinner in the Bobbin Coffee Shop.

Our Befriending Service is part of the Together For You Project which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund.   Together For You is a partnership of 9 different health and wellbeing charities which provides services across Northern Ireland.

Praxis Care Befriending provides support for individuals who feel lonely or isolated as a result of their mental ill health by matching a volunteer to go out for a coffee, for a walk etc.  Having someone to meet up to have a chat with is so important, providing an opportunity to boost confidence and self esteem whilst getting out of the house to try new activities.

Our Christmas Social Event was an opportunity for Befriending Matches to meet together and get to know one another.

We visited the City Hall and had a tour around the impressive building, seeing into the Council Chamber and other rooms not usually open to the public.  We also learnt more about the history of Belfast before visiting the Bobbin Coffee Shop for Dinner.  The Bobbin Coffee Shop is within the City Hall and is open to the public for lunches and afternoon snacks.
